Peter Grayston (me) Radio Operator for R.E.M.E. historic "London to Paris and back to London" race. The race started at the Port of London, the Officer Commanding R.E.M.E. Workshops (Major. H. Ost) swam the first leg of the race to Cook Island (in the middle of the Crab Claw of the Island), followed by Craftsman Eddie Jones who swam the other leg to Paris. The other R.E.M.E. personnel ran the rest of the way back to London. There was a hollow relay baton constructed with a message from the District Commissioner  inside. The Baton was sent to R.E.M.E. Museum at Arborfield in Berkshire.
