THE MEN.- One of Sir William Penney's "boffins" directed the operation: Mr. William R. J. Cook. 51.of Aldermaston, Berkshire.

Commander of the task force was Air Vice-Marshal Wilfrid E. Oulton. 45. He holds the D.S.O. and D.F.C,  is married, and has three sons. His home is at Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

Wing Commander Hubbard. O.B.E.. D.F.C. whose parents live in Gordon-avenue, Thorpe, Norwich, joined the R.A.F. in 1940 and has had a distinguished career.

He served in Italy, commanded No. 104 (Lancaster) Squadron in Egypt, and in 1947 he was appointed deputy officer commanding flying at the Empire Air Armament School. 

Later he commanded R.A.F. station Shaibah, Iraq, and in 1953 was appointed personal staff officer to Air Chief Marshal Sir Francis Fogarty.

Other members of the crew were the co-pilot, Flying Officer Robert Leslie Beeson, 26, of Queen's-grove, Porbrook,
near Portsmouth;.

Flight Lieutenant Eric J. Hood. 27, of Park-avenue, Chippenham, Wiltshire; and
