29 Dec: Sat. (9.40 pm)

    Have had one shift this afternoon until 5.30 pm. Helped Vic on Honolulu – he certainly made some ‘clangers’ and got heck of a rousting from the other end. 

    Went in the sea after tea with Nick. The tide was very high and we stayed in about two hours. All going down to Port tomorrow. Most of us are really beginning to enjoy life out here and for my money except for seeing those at home, I could stay here for a full tour of 2½ years. We were given our ‘LAC’s’ yesterday, about time too. 

    Malcolm got all ready for going to Malden today and then got told he wasn’t going until 8.00 am tomorrow. That’s the R.A.F!
