22 Dec: Sat. (5.00 pm)

    We had a terrible downpour of rain this morning, which at one time, looked like collapsing the tent. 

    Received letters from home and Gibsons. Was on first watch this morning until 1.00 pm and was kept fairly busy with Honolulu. Three of our bunch are going to Malden Island after Christmas and they even have to take their own beds. All supplies are dropped to them by parachute. 

    I shall be on watch again in ¾ hr. until midnight, but circuit closes at 7.45 pm so there wont be much doing. My turn to cook the supper tonight – heaven help them!
