18 Dec: Tuesday (12.00)

Just got off watch. The mail has arrived and I got the ‘New Scientist’ magazine from home. The blisters on my arm are going down a bit now - thank goodness.

There is talk that today has been the hottest since we arrived and I can believe it. Everybody has been lying around pole axed in pools of sweat.

The night watch has started cooking its own supper, and we had a good feed of egg & beans which we cooked over a fire outside the W/T station. Worked like heck on this last watch and got rid of 14 messages to ‘Lulu’. Three of them were two pagers.
