4 Dec: Tuesday (8.20 pm)

Well we’re on our way. The aircraft, a Stratocruiser, took off at 7.10 pm and at present we are at 8,500 ft over the Irish Sea heading for Shannon.

We have already sampled the bar on the bottom deck. The plane is due in at Shannon at 9.00 pm and there we hope to get some duty free drinks and fags. The journey so far has been very smooth, and the stewardess is a humdinger.
